Tempeh Sausage Pastry Puffs

Happy World Vegan Day! To celebrate, I opened up 'Vegan Brunch' this morning and made the "Tempeh Sausage Pastry Puffs". WOW. WOW. WOW. These are amazing. The tempeh "sausage" crumbles are wonderfully spiced with sausage seasonings like fennel, rosemary and thyme and encased in a golden flaky shell. I used store bought puffed pastry that was vegan and it made it all come together so easily. I also used the new Trader Joe's brand of tempeh which tastes great. My husband really loved these. He said they were awesome. And coming from a man who loves sausage pizza, that is a compliment!

They look beautiful!
I wanted to make this recipe as soon as I got Vegan Brunch, but I haven't found any tempeh yet! Such a pity.

Ooh, this is one of the VB recipes that I had a hard time visualizing and was on the fence about trying... but these are so cute and yummy-looking!

Wow, well done! They look just like the picture in the book, hehe.

I went on a baking frenzy last weekend and made several things from the book.

Let me just say... The chorizo style sausages are freakin' fantastic and if you're gonna make them, double the recipe because you'll want more... Or you'll at least want extra to freeze!

The lemon/poppy seed muffins are excellent, so are the tomato/rosemary scones (though I'd recommend more rosemary & flour that the recipe calls for) AND the English muffins are amazing but make sure you follow the instructions. I had to make them twice!!

Totally Isa's best book yet. I've got Veganomicon & VCTOTW and was definitely not impressed by V'con. VCTOTW was OK but I needed to adjust all the recipes I tried because the cupcakes were too dense/heavy for me. It was a real leap of faith for me to buy Vegan Brunch and was totally worth it. I'm in love!!!!

I'll have to try these tempeh sausage things next weekend I think!

those tomatoe scones are made even more fantastic by swapping the rosemary for basil. mmmmmmmm.

These look so good! I'm buying tempeh for the first time when I go grocery shopping this weekend and am so excited! I just started down the road to vegetarianism and am trying to get as many out of the box food ideas as possible. These look great! I'll be checking back here often because all of your food looks amazing.
