Taiwanese sesame noodles and homemade chili oil.

I made homemade chili oil today which I’ve never done before. I heated up a little pot of vegetable oil with some aromatics in it like cinnamon sticks, cloves, bay leaves and star anise. When it got hot, I poured it
through a sieve into a bowl of Chinese chili flakes.
Then I added salt and a tiny sprinkle of Chinese black vinegar.

Ingredients for the sesame noodles: 2 TB sesame paste, 2 TB light and dark soy sauce, Chinese black vinegar, sesame oil, chili oil that I made, sugar and hot water.

Brothy beans, cancer fighting salad, tacos.

Brothy crockpot pintos with pesto and avocado.

Ingredients for cancer fighting salad and dressing.
I really need to make this more often. These ingredients are just some of the foods that are anti-angiogenic which stop the formation of blood vessels that feed tumors. I just found out that one of my family members has been diagnosed with cancer so I wanted to share this with her and everyone. The pinto bean tacos below is topped with a slaw made from the same ingredients as the salad. You can do lots with it to keep it from being boring! Delicious food that is also medicine.

Beans again!

I made brothy beans overnight in the crockpot and they were so good. Just 1 lb. dry pinto beans, garlic, chopped onions, Mexican oregano and water for 12 hours on low. Next day, salt them and add cumin and New México chili powder. I served mine on top of potatoes tonight with hot sauce and chili flakes. It’s also good with a dollop of tomatillo salsa and a handful of tortilla chips.

Tortilla soup.

Vegan tortilla soup. This was delicious! It’s very simple to make. It has veggie broth, garlic, onions, carrots, celery, zucchini, red pepper, corn, Ayocote negro beans, diced tomatoes, New Mexican chili powder, cumin, salt and pepper. I topped the soup with hot crispy tortilla chips. It would be better with avocado and vegan cheese shreds.

I heated up some Ayocote Morado beans and added bbq sauce, garlic powder, mustard powder, cumin and chili flakes. This was so good. I also had freshly made salsa.

More beans!

Hi all! Thanks for your messages I just saw them today. Sorry I’ve been MIA for a while. I was having some difficulty with posting here using the app and I just gave up. Even today’s post the pics are out of order and I can’t fix it! So anyway, I just threw some Rancho Gordo beans in the crockpot. Looking forward to a bowl of brothy beans with hot sauce for dinner.

I do post a lot of food pics on my Instagram if you’d like to follow me there: @kmouse76
