Cheese n Pickle Sandwich, Tuscan Braised Beans

This was my breakfast this morning. Daiya cheddar and Piccalilli on sunflower rye bread. It was sooo good. Must try this with Branston pickle next time!

I made the Tuscan Braised Beans from The Urban Vegan cookbook for dinner. It's so good with pita bread or even by itself! The beans were braised with olive oil, lemon, vinegar, garlic and sage. Yummy!

Are you able to buy Daiya in blocks where you live? They only have it in shreds here...

Tamara took the words right out of my mouth - we only have shreds here in TX... I would love to find it in blocks/slices!

Tamara and marciferous,
Yes, the Whole Foods near me sells the in blocks. Hopefully yours will very soon! Maybe you can ask them. Because it looks to me that they buy it in bulk, cut them up and wrap them in plastic themselves with a price sticker on it.

Block daiya! I'll be checking with my WFM soon. I love that I'm not the only one that likes cheese and pickles. Bread and butter pickles are best with cheddar.

Reminds me of childhood...cheddar & Branston Pickle was a regular snack for us. I haven't tried Daiya cheddar, you're making it look really good so I hope I can locate some!

Mmm! I've never had a cheese and pickle sandwich, but I feel like I need it right about now.

I made the braised beans this weekend. I substituted white beans for cannellini beans but it was still tasty. I also subbed white wine vinegar for white vinegar which made it not quite so sour. In either case, i'll definately make it again.
